The sculpture has been made from sandstone excavated by the Transfield Bouygues Joint Venture during the excavation of the platforms for Green Square Station in 1997.
This sandstone was saved by the tunnellers themselves. They hauled it up the 26 metre deep shaft and stored it on site so that one day a sculpture could be commissioned and displayed.
Russell Cowell, Tino Ferrero, Paul Taylor, Grant Anderson, Darragh O’Reilley and Steve Berton all took responsibility for the stone during different stages of the construction.
Commissioned by Transfield’s Airport Link Company with the support of the South Sydney Development Corporation and South Sydney City Council.
